In
terms of land mass, large
areas are a necessary requirement
for HAWT wind farms. It's
not uncommon to see land
sections of 100 – 200 acres
for this venue. A typical 1
MW horizontal turbine has a
propeller diameter of 100 – 140
feet (variation is due in part
to the manufacture). The re-enforced
concrete base (on average)
is 35-40 feet square, to a
depth of 20 feet. Excluding
excavation time, the concrete
base takes (on average) 6-8
weeks to complete with an additional
2-3 weeks for "cure" time.
Compared to:
Mariah Technology
can provide 50 times more energy
per square foot than HAWT.
For example; our 4 MW Turbine
has a (circular) footprint
of 360 sq. ft., an eve height
of 25 feet, and 8 feet to underside
of footing (U.S.F.). The concrete
silo (including excavation
time) can be ready for the
installation of the turbine,
generator, etc. within 3-4
weeks. Estimated costs are
4-6 thousand dollars. Compared
to; 100-150 thousand for the
concrete base required to support
the steel tower associated
with HAWT.
Summary :
In terms of land mass re: "Wind Farms", Mariah Technology
(in theory) can provide 80 MW of "Utility Grade Power" within
a 10 acre area. In terms of height, Mariah Turbines
will not blur the skyline with towering structures
associated with HAWT.
