HORIZONTAL AXIS WINDMILL TECH. - verses - MARIAH TECHNOLOGY

LOCATION OF POWER TRAIN GENERATOR :
H.A.W.T. power utilities and generator are housed in the nacelle located at the top of a tower (average height: 100-130'). Highly skilled technicians are at risk climbing these towers to perform regular maintenance or repairs.

Maintenance Downtime: Due to the elevation of the nacelle combined with the danger of rotating blades, the entire system must be shut down to perform regular maintenance protocols. Section 51 of the Workplace Safety Act, prohibits work being done on the nacelle in winds greater than 20 kph. Regular maintenance includes:

•  Checking for damage due to severe winds & turbulence.
•  Insect contamination, blowing sand & dust storms.
•  Solar UV radiation
•  Lightening strikes.

The Mariah V.A.W.T. power train, generator, PLC controls, etc. are all accessible at ground level. The concrete silo – 20' wide X 22' high (10' below grade) has three levels:

Level 1. (under ground) Houses the 1 MW generator c/w all associated components.

Level 2. (on grade) Houses the drive shaft, emergency break system, PLC's, maintenance shop, AV equipment, ground fault system (lightening protection) etc.

Level 3. (top of silo) Sits the Mariah Turbine, the Multi-Directional Air Foil assembly & the Insulated Dome.

Summary :
Every component that makes up the design of the Mariah Turbine was done and completed with personal risk and safety in mind. Downtime minimized, external resources eliminated and built in redundancy in key areas addressed.
