This
introduction establishes
a platform to commercialize
the "Multi-Megawatt" vertical
axis wind turbine technology
(VAWT) in the global market.
Advancements in renewable
energy, coupled with public
awareness (re: environmental
issues and the volatility of
fossil fuel prices) are the
main factors offering quantum
growth in the green energy
market.
In
2004 the American Wind Energy
Association (AWEA) reported; "The
market for wind energy is growing
at a rate of 34% per year,
and is the fastest growing
source of alternative energy
in the U.S. By the year 2015,
the market potential for wind
powered electric turbines (utility
grade) in North America is
expected to exceed 70,000 MW;
30,000 MW in Canada and 40,000
MW in the U.S. ; which represents
a total investment potential
of $90 billion dollars." Beyond
the growing North American
demand, the AWEA estimates "Two
billion people (at present)
around the world do not have
access to electric power."
In 1982 Mr. Glenn R. Palmer,
was a project leader during
the installation of a Horizontal
Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) on
the shores of Hudson 's Bay
( Fort Severn , First Nations
Reserve). The Howden Turbine
was designed to deliver 1.8
MW of electrical energy and
replace the Diesel Powered
generators employed at the
Reserve. Regrettably, the project
failed to meet the needs and
requirements of the community
and fell short of expectant
performance criteria.
In
1999, Mr. Glenn R. Palmer
P. Eng., B. Sc., M.E.T., C.E.O.
Mariah Technologies Inc. began
designing a new wind turbine.
His passion for "Alternative
Energy", creative genius, and
forensic due diligence were
rewarded in the completion
of the Mariah Turbine Geometry.
Mr. Palmer's drive to design
a turbine to meet stringent
design criteria's; (A) All
Directional, (B) 1-4 MW (Utility
Grade), (C) Capable of generating
power in a 4 kph wind velocity
(class 2 zone), were rewarded
in October of 2004.
Mariah
Technologies Inc. is presently,
committed to bring this unique
VAWT technology into full
production. To market the
Mariah Turbine globally and
be recognized as a "World
Leader" in the field of "Alternative
Energy." To establish long-term
contracts (up to 40 years)
with utility companies, ensuring
a secure revenue stream for
financial partners, with an
ROI of 60 to 80% (depending
on spot locations).
